Will your floor fade if not in the shade?

Stonhard UV-resistant flooring is designed to maintain its vibrant colour and durability, even in spaces with heavy sun exposure. Invest in a floor that will stand the test of time with long-lasting beauty and performance.

What is UV-Resistant Flooring?

Ultra-violet (UV) light can cause floors to discolour and fade and over time, become brittle, and fail. UV-resistant flooring is formulated to withstand the UV rays of the sun, as well as some man-made lighting, that causes damage. UV-resistant flooring comes in both indoor and outdoor applications, including parking decks.

The Benefits of UV-Resistant Floors

UV-resistant flooring keeps floors looking the way they were intended. Without UV protection, floors exposed to UV light will fade and change colour. Eventually, without UV protection, floors will also break down, so this special formulation will prevent the need for repair and replacement. Benefits of UV-resistant flooring include:

  • Maintaining a floor's original colour, especially important in commercial applications (e.g., retail, hospitality).
  • Keeping the floor from breaking down under continuous exposure to UV light.
  • Preventing financial loss due to shutdowns related to repair or replacement of a failed floor.

FAQ

Got questions? We've got answers. This FAQ section covers the most common inquiries about UV-resistant flooring to help you make informed decisions.

UV-resistant floors are flooring systems designed to withstand prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light without degrading, fading, or becoming discoloured. These floors maintain their appearance and integrity even in direct sunlight or under UV lighting.

They are commonly used in areas exposed to direct sunlight or UV light, such as outdoor patios, pool decks, atriums, retail spaces, parking decks, and areas with large windows or skylights.

Regular cleaning with a mop or soft nylon brush and a neutral pH cleaner are usually sufficient. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive tools that could damage the floor.

UV-resistant floors can be made slip-resistant by incorporating anti-slip additives in the topcoat. This ensures safety even when the floor is wet or greasy.

Yes, UV-resistant floors are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Indoors, they are particularly useful in areas with high exposure to natural light, such as rooms with large windows or skylights.
